hi, i just got this phone. I notice when the phone play music on external storage, it only play one song, is there any way to fix this problem?

Any change on changing the slide tone? seems a bit dumb that you can only have the 4 tones they provide.

Hi Jessica,

I'm afraid I've got no idea why that's happening... it works fine on mine. I can only suggest the usual: try ejecting the drive, unplugging, waiting a few seconds and then plugging back in. If not, try restarting the Mac and the Shine. It probably won't help, but stranger things have happened.

Failing that, I can only suggest calling Customer Support. Sorry I can't be more help...

If anyone else knows, please speak up!

Hello,
I just bought a shine and I'm trying to connect it to my mac. It's come up fine as an external drive and I can open the folders etc etc, but I cannot drag anything into them - it says that the folders "cannot be modified". I had a look at the Drive's info and it says it's "Read only"?? How can I change this?? I am computer illiterate...any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!!

I don't know, I'm afraid. You could try putting it in "My media/Others", and then have a play with the "Games & Apps" menu in "My Stuff". If you figure it out, please follow up to this comment! :)

Thanks for the good and very fast response. Actually I have one more question but I don't know if this is the right place to ask. I have downloaded a .jad (Java) to the computer and I wonder, if possible, if I can transfer it to the phone with USB cable. If so where do I put it and how do i install it?

Axel: look for "Slide Tones" when personalising the profile: Go to "1. Profile", then "1. General", then "2. Personalise", then select Slide Tones. You only have a few choices, and you can't load your own (as far as I know)

Hey Andy,

I think the one you're talking about is "Light": three glasses, filled with ice and coloured liquid. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way of transferring this image out of the phone. The Bluetooth print option doesn't seem to work with the built-in images.

Andy: okay, a lot of questions!

1. The loudspeaker is fairly loud. About the same as other phones, I guess. Louder than my Nokia 6280.

2. I don't think you can create folders. Well, you can create them, but if I remember correctly, they don't seem to appear on the phone. I'm not sure.

3. You can change the wallpaper and a few other things. I don't know about anything else, but it's not immediately obvious if so. There's no theme option, as such.

4. I didn't try downloading videos or other content (other than music) to the phone.

heya, rite... just a couple of questions for someone who has a shine... is the loudspeaker very loud for playing music?? comparing to a different handset? and when you plug and play with the usb cavle can you create folders inside folders like a music videos folder in the videos folder when you use it as a storage device thingy? can you change themes? and how good is video playback from videos downloaded from your computer? please email and i could send you some mobile video sampleas and could you tell me wether there is any pauses of jaults in playback? thanks for any help given!!! Kelly: yes, it definitely has speakerphone. While a call is in progress, the Options menu (left selection button) has [1] Speakerphone On. There doesn't seem to be an additional hole or grille for a speaker, so I assume it just uses the earpiece and microphone at a higher volume level.

I don't know about the 3G version not having a memory slot. I suppose it's possible. Since the 3G model has a lot more memory as standard, they might have implemented that by using the same circuitry used for the memory slot on the 2G model. That's just speculation, though.

I got the phone from the Carphone warehouse at Cribbs. After uploading some songs I noticed the ringtones in the MP3 playlist. I deleted these from the playlist using the options menu and *poof* they went from the playlist. They are still on my phone though and I can play them. Trouble is if I select one as a ringtone it fails to play and instead I get one of the alarm tones playing instead.
