Hey Tom, I'm of the same mindset - I really don't like the path the iApps have taken. I don't think we'll see any improvements this year because of the Leopard delay, but I could be wrong!

One thing I've done twice is pressed the Apple+Backspace delete keyboard shortcut thinking my desktop had focus, but in fact iTunes had focus. I've not noticed anything wrong until I emptied my Trash and seen a thousand or so files disappear. Not good! Last weekend, this was my iTunes "Most Recently Added" Smart Playlist - three months of tunes gone in an instant. Argh!

I'd not backed up in two weeks, but I had synced my iPod so all was not as lost as I had initially thought.

Getting the music and meta data off the iPod wasn't possible using iPodRip - for some reason it said my iPod database was corrupt - still not looked into that. So I had to use iPodDisk and manually copy the files back to my Mac, manually reinstating any missing meta data for the most important tracks after printing(!) it out from the copy of the playlist still on my iPod.

A real nightmare. Of course, totally my fault. :)
