St John Ambulance is a charity that exists to provide first aid and medical support services; caring services in support of community needs; and education, training and personal development to young people.

In the UK, St John Ambulance is the leading first aid organisation and trains over half a million people each year, running a number of First Aid courses for children, the general public and the workforce. St John Ambulance has over 70,000 members across the UK who are committed to training, caring and saving lives.

In recognition of the increasing numbers of vulnerable people in society, St John Ambulance has developed a network of caring services across the country. Volunteers are all fully trained through caring courses and they give over half a million hours of care to their communities across the UK each year.

With well over half of its members under the age of 18, St John Ambulance is a major youth organisation. Through participation in a structured programme of First Aid and care activities, young people can develop both their personal and social skills.

St John Ambulance also has a presence throughout the world with in excess of 200,000 members in over 42 countries. St John Ambulance International provides a range of services to the community which mirror those provided in the UK. In addition to these services, the international wing has diversified to meet local needs, including dental care and surgeries for poor people and people with disabilities in Hong Kong; a maternity hospital in Pakistan and health clinics in Nigeria. Relief work and disaster planning is also practiced in a number of the overseas branches.
