'Webcams Project'

The Webcams project is your chance to see the NHS during its 50th Anniversary year.

The three locations are:

  • St James's University Hospital - better known as TV's Jimmy's - in Leeds. Recently, the Trust merged with the other acute hospital in Leeds - United Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust to form the largest Trust in the UK. Tune in to the main reception area in the hospital, possibly the busiest part of the whole Jimmy's hospital site.
  • Honley Surgery in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Five doctors are based here but the surgery offers much more to its local community as it provides a base for a whole host of health care professionals, from district nurses and midwives to physiotherapists and psychologists. See the reception area of this busy community GP surgery.
  • One of three pilot sites in the UK, NHS Direct based at Northumbria Ambulance Trust headquarters, is the newest and most groundbreaking part of the health service. Trained nurses operate telephone lines 24-hours a day to offer on-line advice to callers in the region. Watch them in operation from here.
