At the Human Rights Committee of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, Britain abstains from voting on a resolution calling for equal pay for women, or in the words of the resolution, 'equal rights with men in employment and remuneration.' The British delegate defends the Britain's position by claiming "In some countries men can earn enough to allow their wives to stay at home."
