'November 1'

Julie Andrews at 13, a freckled girl in pigtails, sings for the King and Queen at the Royal Variety Performance at the Palladium in London. At the time she was earning £50 a week starring in the musical 'Starlight Roof' at the Hippodrome, London.

'November 2'

The special Roads Bill is published which has plans for 1,000 miles of new 'motor ways'.

'November 4'

The American writer James Baldwin, aged 24 sails from the USA to Europe on a one way ticket.
