The Allied airlift into Berlin sets a new record, flying 7,000 tons of supplies over the three month period of the Russian blockade. Over a 24 hour period British and American planes made a total of 895 flights in fog, rain and high winds to bring supplies of food and fuel including 5,572 tons of coal.
The BBC screens the UK's first ever made-for-television documentary feature entitled 'Germany Under Control'.
