As the Ministry of Works continues to consider appropriate types of deep shelters and safety measures for the population in the event of nuclear war, local authorities are told that they would soon receive government advice on "the best methods of protection against the atom bomb".
The government announces that an extra 22,000 tons of dried fruit will be released to cater for demands of Christmas baking.
