Description of Health Service

Local authorities are responsible for the provision of health care for their respective populations. Primary health careis available to everyone free of charge, provided through Health Centres. Generally the central government provides finance to cover about half of the capital and running costs of hospitals and all expenses of health centres. The rest of the costs is paid by local authorities and small patient charges are made to those who can afford to pay.
